Welcome to the Carolina Drone Lab!
The Carolina Drone Lab (CARDNL) serves as a collaborative space and knowledge hub that facilitates the innovative use of drones and sensors to solve environmental and societal challenges. CARDNL is a continuously-evolving resource for collaborators both within the UNC community and beyond.
CARDNL specializes in:
- Collaborative and Innovative Applied Research and Management Applications.
- Shared Resources including drones, sensors, survey equipment, software, and data visualization.
- Training and Support for regulatory compliance, flight ops, and data processing.
We maintain a series of unoccupied aerial vehicles (UAVs), sensors, geospatial data collection tools, and field gear to execute data-driven projects. In addition to equipment, CARDNL hosts workshops and provides technical support and on-demand training. UNC collaborators have the opportunity to take advantage of the CARDNL equipment library and are able to rent gear free of charge once approved, providing researchers with the tools to collect data on their own terms.
