Our client is Wake Smiles, a dental clinic in Raleigh, North Carolina. Wake Smiles serves a specific population of uninsured adults in Wake County, NC that otherwise would not have access to quality dental care. This need is essential as oral health is often overlooked in underserved populations, and untreated dental issues can exacerbate other health problems and significantly impact a person’s ability to lead a healthy and productive life.
We are supporting the administrative and volunteer management aspect of Wake Smiles’ operations by improving and building upon their current admin-side and volunteer-side websites for volunteering for and managing shifts. As all staff and dental professionals are volunteers, the clinic requires a more efficient and user-friendly environment in which to schedule volunteer shifts. Our work is focused on streamlining the process for creating, modifying, and signing up for these shifts, making it much easier for dental professionals and support staff to dedicate their time to helping underserved communities. Additionally, our work ensures that administration has proper access to the necessary information and resources to communicate with their volunteers, handle resource allocation, and oversee data management. Our hope is that with our improvements to their websites, Wake Smiles will be able to serve more uninsured individuals and others in need.
