Get to know the 2023 Board!

As the 2023 organizational officers, we want to express our gratitude for the privilege of serving you. The journey has been incredibly meaningful, and we have cherished every moment of it. Your support and engagement have been invaluable.

As our term comes to a close, we want to assure you that this is not a farewell but rather a transition. We look forward to staying connected and continuing to be a part of this wonderful community. Thank you for entrusting us with the opportunity to lead this wonderful student organization.

Nadia Merritt Headshot
Nadia Merritt, a second-year MSIS student, is the President of UNC’s SLA chapter and the liaison for the Health & Science affinity group. She is working at the Small Business Center at Durham County Library and is an inaugural intern at Wake Forest University School of Medicine Carpenter Library. She is passionate about health literacy, graphic medicine, and special libraries. Nadia enjoys making genuine connections amongst peers and helping others reach their goals.

Melina Flores is the Vice President SLA. She is a fourth year BSIS and Communications major from West Bend, Wisconsin. A little about Melina is that she enjoys capturing life through my camera and hanging out with her cats. She hopes to see the SLA family grow with other students who enjoy learning more about Special Libraries!

Collin Drummond is the Treasurer as well as one of the liaisons for the Scholarly Communications affinity group. He is a second-year MSLS student and works in the Scholarly Communications Office at Carolina. Collin is interested in scholarly publishing, copyright, and linguistic equity in science, and after graduating, he hopes to work on digital projects in an academic library.

Simone Gillespie is SLA’s Secretary and one of the co-leaders of the SLA affinity group for Arts and Museums. She has interned with the State Archives of North Carolina and Baseball Hall of Fame Museum and Library. Simone is a second-year master’s student pursuing her MSLS with a particular interest in research libraries, special collections, and community archives.
