2022 Events

Throughout the year, UNC’s Special Libraries Association organized various events. We’ve handpicked a selection that both the 2022 board and members found enjoyable, and we’re excited to share them with you.

February 2023 Coffee & Conversation
When: Wednesday, February 8, 2023 | 2:30pm to 3:30pm
Where: UNC South Building (near Meantime Coffee Co.)
What: Coffee hours are where we discuss special libraries or topics impacting us as information professionals. Coffee hours have a kick-off topic but these are pretty causal allowing the conversation to naturally flow. So bring your thoughts and questions, as well as ideas for future coffee hour topics or SLA activities!

November 2022 Makerspace Tours
When: Wednesday, November 16, 2022 | 3:30pm to 5:45pm
Where: Meeting in room 014 to begin the walking tour
What: Did you know UNC Chapel Hill is home to not one, not two, but five makerspaces? Join us a tour of four campus Makerspaces, including an introduction by SILS Professor Maggie Melo!
UNC Campus Makerspace Tour with SLA November 16, 2022

October 2022 Happy Hour
When: Wednesday, October 26 from 5 to 6:30 PM
Where: TRU is on the corner of Rosemary and Henderson
What: Happy Hour with Rebecca Vargha
Details: After our study-hang on campus, we’re having an off-campus happy hour at TRU with Rebecca Vargha: our club advisor, SILS librarian, SLA fellow & former president (she’s a big deal, she’s super nice, and she has a lot of connections, so come hang out)! They serve beer, wine, and have sandwiches too– come for as long as you like/can, no purchase required to hang out (note that we can’t buy you drinks with organization funds)!

Happy Hour with UNC SLA Chapter Advisor!
