In the past year, the 2023 board of UNC’s Special Library Association curated a series of events. Among these, were conversations with librarians, networking opportunities, workshops, and more. The 2023 board organized nearly ten events during their tenure from May 2023 to February 2024. We’ve singled out a few of these events that garnered positive feedback from both our board and members, and we’re delighted to share them with you.
Mingle & Munch
When: Thursday, February 22, 2024 | 12:30pm to 2:30pm
Where: Information and Library Science Library (Manning Hall)
What: Sweet connections are made when UNC we make an effort to connect with our peers! This networking session is the last event held by the 2023 executive board Come hangout, meet fellow members, and grab an insomnia cookie. We’ve made efforts to have dairy-free milk, gluten free options, and vegan cookies.

When: Monday, November 13, 2023 | 11:00am to 12:30pm
Where: Health Science Library (HSL) room 227
What: Guest librarian, Michelle Cawley, will provide valuable insight on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and automated tools in Health Science Librarianship. This event was spurred by our Health and Science Affinity Group lead by a board member.
Federal Resume Workshop
When: Wednesday, October 25, 2023 | 5:00pm to 6:30pm
Where: Manning 303
What: The Law and Government Affinity Group leaders led a workshop on how to create a federal resume as well as sharing their experience as a summer intern at the Library of Congress.
Hall of Fame Celebration
When: Thursday, September 14, 2023 | 7:00pm to 9:00pm
Where: Rocks and Acid Wine Shop
