Rebecca Vargha – SLA Hall of Fame

Back in October 2023, Rebecca Vargha, head of UNC-Chapel Hill’s Information and Library Science Library, was inducted into the Special Libraries Association (SLA) Hall of Fame. She is serving as the UNC-CH Special Libraries Association advisor, is the SILS librarian, a former SLA fellow, and a previous SLA president! Rebecca’s impact on the SLA Carolinas Community, greater SLA, SILS students, her mentees, and our profession at large cannot be overstated.

The Hall of Fame award recognizes SLA members for their years of professional career, for their service and contribution to the association. This award recognizes distinguished service to the SLA community that has contributed to the success of the Special Libraries Association. The designation of hall of fame status is SLA’s longest standing honor, dating back to 1959.
