Science Communication and Interdisciplinary Engagement:
For science to truly inform action it needs to involve mutual learning through direct engagement with stakeholders and it must be conveyed in way that is digestible to practitioners. Below are some of the ways I’ve been able to educate and work with different audiences.
– The Office of Undergraduate Research sponsored me as a Graduate Research Consultant for the undergraduate honors course “Rising Waters: Strategies for Resilience to the Challenges of Climate and the Built Environment”. My role was to serve as a resource to the students as my research was directly relevant to their class project to develop a board game for communicating climate risks to children. I advised the students on their projects and also gave a lecturer on my PhD research. Check out the awesome website the students created here for the board game Climatopia: Project Website (UNC-CH, Fall 2021)
