Alex is a postdoc studying airborne microbes and co-advised by Dr. Barb Turpin. Alex completed his PhD at Duke in Environmental Engineering with Dr. Claudia Gunsch where he studied interactions between the lung and environmental microbiomes. Prior to attending graduate school Alex worked for the Air Quality Division of the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality for 5 years where he inspected oil and gas facilities for compliance with federal and state air quality regulations. Alex loves meeting new people and often doesn’t have the willpower to not have a 30-minute conversation with someone even though he has lots of work to do.
