Compare two two-digit numbers based on meanings of the tens and ones digits, recording the results of comparisons with the symbols >, =, and <.

Objective

  • Students will view a 360° video and compare the numbers shown in the video.

Recommended Teaching Strategy

Example 360° Learning Experience

Show students the recommended video below and ask them to name the numbers they can see. In their math journals, students should list all the numbers in the video from least to greatest, then greatest to least. For example, in this video, that would be 3, 5, 8, 10, 15, and 20. Students should then select pairs of numbers and compare them using the symbols >, =, and <. At the end of the exercise, students should have 5-10 comparisons recorded. To conclude, they can share their findings with a partner in a think-pair-share activity or with the whole class in a group discussion.
