Tell and write time in hours and half-hours using analog and digital clocks.

Objective

  • Students will view a 360° video and identify the hour that clocks are displaying.

Recommended Teaching Strategy

Example 360° Learning Experience

Conduct a number talk using the corresponding video. Here are some questions to guide your discussions:

  • What are the differences between all the clocks? How can we tell time if they use a number system we are unfamiliar with or no numbers at all?
  • What number does the minute hand on the big clock above the door point to?
  • Which hour is displayed on the grandfather clock?
  • Do any clocks show a time exactly on the hour or half hour? How do you know?

Students can record drawings of different clocks displaying various times in their math journals after the group discussion.

For each question, have students explain how they viewed the close to find the correct answer.
