Hobbies: Singing in the Duke Chapel Choir, playing oboe, enjoying nature!

Why CHSS: “I wanted to meet other pre-health students and to help the community we live in.”

Favorite thing about CHSS: “Meeting so many wonderful people!! You all are amazing!”

Anna Jin

Hobbies: Finding new coffee shops to go to or starting new painting project.

Summer 2022 memory: Road trip for Maine.

Favorite thing about CHSS: “My favorite thing about being an officer for CHSS is being able to connect with lots of people and become friends with people I would not have met in classes. I’m super thankful to work with the people on exec and I’ve been able to become friends with lots of them and have a fun time!”

Why CHSS: “I joined CHSS because of the meaningful and insightful experiences they provide through the regular virtual shadowing program, medical school student panels, and many more incredibly insightful events.”

Favorite thing about CHSS: “I love that I am a part of a team that’s passionate about creating meaningful college experience for their members.”

Why CHSS: “I didn’t know what I wanted to do as a career (and I’m still not entirely sure), but I knew I wanted to go into healthcare, so I joined CHSS to help expose me to many different health-related jobs and opportunities!”

Favorite thing about CHSS: “Definitely the people! I have only been a member for a year and already love everyone I’ve met and have been able to work with.”

Fun Fact: Annabella was born in Seoul, South Korea

Why CHSS: “I joined CHSS because I wanted to be a part of a community dedicated to healthcare. Not only has CHSS given me a lot of opportunities to grow within my field, it has also helped me make so many friends!”

Favorite CHSS event: “My favorite CHSS event last year was volunteering at the SECU house during their gala. It was really cool to see so many people dressed up for a good cause and the staff at the SECU Family House are so sweet!”

Hobbies: Trying new coffees, organizing things, and cheering on UNC basketball.

Why CHSS: “I am on the pre-med track and love to connect with people.”

Favorite thing about CHSS: “Seeing how genuinely invested everyone is to the club. We all get along so well and have so much fun planning events, meetings, and new ways for the club to function.”

Hobbies: Walks, playing the violin, and spending time with loved ones.

Favorite thing about CHSS: “I’ve loved getting to know my peers in this club and making real connections with fellow officers beyond just a professional standpoint.”

Hobbies: Going to concerts and other live music events.

Fun Fact: Ian has two dogs — a yellow lab and a yellow lab mix

Favorite thing about CHSS: “I love the club’s broad focus on pre-health professions and the opportunities it allows for students to gain exposure to the experiences of varying-level health care providers. Everyone offers a different perspective related to their own pursuit of a health profession, and these perspectives allow for a more holistic view of a pre-health path at the undergraduate level. Everyone in the club is also so willing to help and give advice!”


SHADOWING CHAIR

Margaret Lostetter

Year: Senior      Major: Biology

Home Town: Greenville, SC

Hobbies: Playing sports, cooking, and hanging out with friends and family.

Fun Fact: Margaret is a  Chinese minor and has been studying the language since 5th grade!

Why CHSS: “I joined CHSS because I was interested in joining a pre-health club with like-minded individuals who I could learn from and grow with all while serving the local community.”

Favorite thing about CHSS: I love being able to provide shadowing opportunities for our members, since shadowing has been difficult for pre-health students since COVID.


PUBLICITY AND SOCIAL MEDIA CHAIR

Hobbies: Yoga, and recently started going on hikes and reading more books outdoors.

Why CHSS: “CHSS has a great community and I love integrating my pre-health interests into social groups.”

Favorite thing about CHSS: “Learning about the background work that goes into each event makes me appreciate the unity and skills everybody brings to the table.”

Favorite thing about CHSS: “This is my first year being an officer, but I like how CHSS showcases opportunities for students who really want to join the medical route in multiple ways.

Summer 2022 memory: Ashleigh worked at a pediatricians office this summer as a medical scribe! She also traveled to Dublin, Ireland and Paris, France.
