CLEAN hosted Dr. Rebecca Philipsborn of Emory University School of Medicine for the first CLEAN Sustainability in Medicine Lecture on Tuesday, March 23rd at 3pm via Zoom. Dr. Philipsborn is a practicing pediatrician, medical educator, and has written extensively on the linkages between climate change and health, medical education, and health equity.

The environment is known to impact human health, especially cardiovascular health, but this is a complex thing to study. How do we find these links? EPA computational biologist Dr. Cavin Ward-Caviness discussed how the Environmental Protection Agency is conducting research that is reshaping how we view and understand environmental health, the insights that have come from electronic health records, and how we are integrating these novel studies with existing epidemiology and toxicology to advance public health.
