Olivia Harmon is an Environmental Sciences and Engineering PhD student at the Gillings School of Global Public Health, researching wastewater infrastructure in rural Alabama. She also works as a research associate at the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, researching and developing low- and mid-tech water, sanitation, and hygiene infrastructure for unserved rural communities in Alaska. She received a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder (CU) where she assisted in the development of a low-cost fluorescence sensor for the detection of E. Coli in water distribution systems in low- and middle-income communities. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama (UA) in Chemical and Biological Engineering.
