Amanda Lai (right) is a postdoc studying enteric pathogen and ARG carriage in child stools. In her previous life, she worked as a wastewater engineer for 5+ years, earning her PE in California. More recently, she completed her PhD in Environmental Engineering at Georgia Tech in May 2021 with focus on childhood health and sanitation in rural Cambodia. Her broader research interests include observational and experimental studies to investigate effects of sanitation on health. Outside of lab, Amanda can be found enjoying the natural spaces of her new home state with her partner and dog or in her backyard observing her bounty of black soldier fly larvae.
