Common Core State Standard: CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.K.G.B.4
Analyze and compare two- and three-dimensional shapes, in different sizes and orientations, using informal language to describe their similarities, differences, parts (e.g., number of sides and vertices/”corners”) and other attributes (e.g., having sides of equal length).
Objective
- View a 360° video and compare attributes of 3D objects.
Recommended Teaching Strategy
Example 360° Learning Experience
Conduct a number talk using the corresponding video. Here are some questions to guide your discussions:
- What shape are the oranges?
- How many corners does the sale sign have?
- What shape is the scale hanging from the ceiling?
- How many corners do the barcodes have?
- Are the sides of the pear boxes equal or unequal?
Use one or two questions to run a 5-15 minute number talk, adjusting to the math unit your class is working through.
