Integrate and evaluate content presented in diverse media and formats, including visually and quantitatively, as well as in words.

Objective

Students will analyze a 360° video and organize its content into a table, which they will explain in words.

360° Learning Experience

Teacher show students a 360° video of a performance or interaction by two or more people, such as a concert, play, or dialogue. Based on the video, students organize the information shown into a chart. To do so, students will need to decide what element(s) of the video they are going to analyze and how they are going to display their analysis. Then, students will write one or more paragraphs to explain their analysis. Students will complete this assignment by sharing their work in small groups, where they will explain the content they organized into the chart and their analysis of their chart.

Teaching Strategy

Example Assignment

Prompt: Analyze the video of the drum circle and organize the data based on the people’s action. Next, once analyzed, explain how city officials could use this data to earn revenue from the crowd.

In this video, a drum circle is recorded that took place in Asheville, North Carolina, during the fall of 2022. The drum circle includes images who are dancing, drumming, and watching. Table 1 was created to capture and organize the people who attended this drum based on their actions, and the table is:

Based on the chart, the largest number of people attending the drum circle were actually drumming, followed by the people who were watching it. Finally, the people who were dancing were also the fewest number of people at the drum circle. Based on this data, city of officials of Asheville could attempt to earn revenue by allowing local street vendors to sell drums to the spectators. With Asheville having a thriving tourism industry, it is reasonable to assume that the people watching are tourists and they might be interested in purchasing a drum to participate in the circle or to take home as a souvenir. By limiting the vendors to local vendors from Asheville, it would be a way to continue the local feel and vibe of the drum circle while supporting the community.
