Common Core State Standard: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.CCRA.W.2

Write informative/explanatory texts to examine and convey complex ideas and information clearly and accurately through the effective selection, organization, and analysis of content.

Objective

Students will document a process in writing along with explaining what they would do or not do to improve the process.

360° Learning Experience

Teachers present students with a 360° image or video depicting a scene of some kind, such as the steps for getting ready for school, a strategy for navigating a crowded cafeteria, or assembling the ingredients needed to make a meal. Teachers then prompt students to write a logical plan that explains how a process or sequence is needed for achieving an outcome in relation to the 360° media along with how the process could be improved. Students will need to organize their writing by first introducing the objective for the process and then explaining the steps for completing it.

Example 360° Learning Experience

In this example, a husband ins making tacos for dinner, while his wife looks on. A description of the process along with idea for improving it are:

In this video, a husband is making tacos for his wife. To make them, the husband first prepares his area by laying out his ingredients and then putting oil on the foiled pan. Next, he places the meat on the pan using kitchen utensils before sliding the meat into the oven. To improve this aspect of the meal, the husband could add more seasonings and spices to the meat. After some time passes, the husband takes the meat from the oven, and he begins to assemble the tacos on the tortillas that he already placed on the plates. Once the meat is on the tortillas, he adds other ingredients, like beans and tomatoes. Though the tacos are looking good, the husband can add more to the tacos, like salsa, cheese, lettuce, and other toppings, and he can even serve them with a side of beans or rice.
