Common Core State Standard: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.CCRA.SL.5

Make strategic use of digital media and visual displays of data to express information and enhance understanding of presentations.

Objective

Students will create an infographic that analyzes symbolism and language used in a text.

360° Learning Experience

Teachers present students with audio recordings of a narrated text, such as a speech, poem, song, or other oration. Teachers also select one or more 360° images or videos that are thematically connected with the narrated text. Teachers then play the narrated text for students (and depending on the context, teachers can provide transcripts of the text as well), while allowing them to view the 360° image or text. To conclude, students create an infographic that identifies specific lines from the text and matches them to scenes from the 360° image or video using screenshots. Students can share their infographics by posting them to a class discussion board or website, so other students can view them and provide feedback.
