Common Core State Standard: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.CCRA.L.1
Objective
Students will analyze a 360° video or image with two people in it and compose a dialogue for it based on the background and setting of the video or image.
360° Learning Experience
Teachers choose a 360° video or image that shows two or more individuals having a conversation. Next, students working by themselves or in pairs write a dialogue for the individuals shown in the video or image. Teachers should emphasize that the dialogue connects to the specific elements shown in the background and setting (e.g., buildings, weather, traffic) of the video or image. After writing the dialogue, students can be asked to perform it in small groups or with the whole class.
Recommended Teaching Strategy
Example of Dialogue
“Bernice, I don’t know if we’ll eat this lettuce. I mean, how often do we eat salads?” he asked his wife.
“Well, I’ve been reading that we should eat more of a balanced diet,” she said.
Mickey paused, thought about it, and turned to the vendor who was working at the booth and said, “Sir, I guess were gonna get this lettuce, got to eat healthy and all.”
“Yes sir,” said the vendor, “let me weigh that and we’ll get you two checked out.”
