During the COVID-19 pandemic, I tracked the ways in which cities and regions around the world responded to changing demands on public space through reallocation of roadway infrastructure. This effort gave rise to the Shifting Streets Global COVID-19 Mobility Dataset. See below for links to the data and ways to contribute information.

Shifting Streets Global COVID-19 Mobility Dataset
The Shifting Streets Global COVID-19 Mobility Dataset tracks immediate responses to changing demands on public space during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is intended as a reference for researchers, practitioners, and others interested in how cities have worked to address changes in travel demand and the need for social distancing.
Shifting Streets Data Submission Portal
If you have information about local efforts that affected access to walking & bicycling as part of a COVID-19 response, please consider sharing it. Data entered into this form will be visible in the “Shifting Streets Global COVID-19 Mobility Dataset” within one week, and will be available for public use.
Call for Case Studies on Pandemic-Era Street Redesigns
As an extension of the Shifting Streets dataset, the Pedestrian & Bicycle Information Center, Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), and Toole Design are seeking more information on projects that have provided more public space for walking, biking, rolling, recreation, and outdoor commerce during the COVID-19 pandemic era. If you have a project that you would like to share, we invite you to provide information here.
