The Portable Warrior Test of Tactical Agility (POWAR-TOTAL) is a performance-based, exertional, and dual-task assessment which requires less time, space, and technology than previous laboratory-based RTD assessments. The POWAR-TOTAL demonstrates high external validity using components (carrying a simulated weapon, movements used in training activities) familiar to the military population. It is a multiple trial high-level complex task that integrated physical and cognitive components, and was preceded and followed by visual testing. Dynamic stability, working memory, dual task ability, visual stability, and tolerance to visual-vestibular provocative movements were all challenged.  The motor task was performed while carrying a simulated weighted service weapon (Bluegun™ M4) and involved rapid position changes, running, and rolling. Working memory was measured by asking the participant to retain an eight-character grid coordinate (e.g., Echo-Bravo 5-2-3-9-4-1), a method used by military personnel to identify operational locations.

Instructions and scoresheets for the Dual-task protocol can be found here.
