Chimdi Muoghalu is currently pursuing her Doctoral studies in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering at UNC Chapel Hill. Originally from Nigeria, she holds a BSc. degree in Agricultural and Environmental Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. Her research endeavors are centered around enhancing practices related to fecal sludge management, encompassing aspects such as containment, emptying, transportation, treatment, and disposal/reuse, particularly in regions of the global south. Ms. Muoghalu’s research pursuits extend to various areas, including rectifying disparities in accessing water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services, studying pathogen dispersion in the environment, exploring water and wastewater treatment methods, and identifying opportunities for resource recovery from fecal sludge. She also possesses expertise in sample collection and laboratory analysis for environmental contaminants. An enthusiastic individual with a strong affinity for environmental matters, Ms. Muoghalu views herself as an ever-curious lifelong learner.
