Dr. Musa Manga’s Lab uses environmental engineering, microbiology, and chemistry tools to identify low-cost, scalable, and sustainable interventions to interrupt transmission of excreta-related diseases to protect public health and wellbeing. We work to plan, monitor, and improve water, sanitation, and fecal sludge management practices to promote:

  • Equity for vulnerable communities globally
  • Development and validation of pathogen hazards and risk models
  • Environmental justice and climate change mitigation
  • Optimization of sanitation technologies for wastewater treatment and bioresource recovery
