Andromede Uwase (Andy) is a second-year Master of Public Health student with a concentration in Environmental Health Solutions in the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering. Her research interests focus on WASH, low-cost technology for water quality and sanitation, and global health. In her undergraduate studies, Andromede worked on a One Health and water quality research project in Rwanda to understand the complex link between child stunting, cognitive development, microbiome, and water quality. At the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Andromede is working with Dr. Musa Manga’s research group on the prevalence of Soil-Transmitted Helminth in Low- and Middle-Income Countries. She is also a current Teaching Assistant in the Department of Environmental Science for ENVR 89 and ECUIPP LAB (Engineering in Environmentally Engaged Communities and Undergraduate Investing for Public Health), supervised by Dr. Amanda Northcross. Aside from academics, Andromede is a fitness trainer, and enjoys being active and hanging out with friends while exploring new places.
