Anaïs Gentles
Anaïs Gentles is a third-year undergraduate student working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. She is passionate about the public health applications of organic chemistry. Whether it be through antibiotic research or decontaminating wastewater with organic compounds, she strives to elevate her analytical skills and contribute to an interdisciplinary environment. She has conducted medicinal chemistry research with a specialization in organic synthesis. This involved the synthesis of substrates to aid in the characterization of bacterial enzyme DapE as an antibiotic target against bacterial infection. She hopes to apply her chemical research experience to the novel public health projects that the Manga lab is pursuing. Anaïs is dedicated to evidence-based research about wastewater contaminant removal to improve water infrastructure technologies.
