My name is Jaleah Taylor, and I’m proud to be running to be your next Student Body President.
Carolina is a place that I and many other Tar Heels call home, and I want to be even more proud to call this place home when I leave. I stepped into Carolina during a unique time in which our university has dealt with mental health crises, attacks on diversity, food insecurity, Covid-19, campus safety, and accessibility issues. All of these occur in our home, our university.
I’m running on a platform that acknowledges that this place is home, but also acknowledges that this place is our future in the way that we can all impact it and change it for the better. I have always believed that service is what pushes our student body ahead and just in my past years here at Carolina, I’ve seen the unique ways in which different campus organizations have combatted some of these concerns. I’m running because I want to bring your concerns, and your thoughts, to university leaders and campus leaders to build transparency around these issues and solutions in hopes of uniting our student body even more.
