About

My name is Colin Shannon and I’m a junior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Currently, I’m studying advertising and am thinking of getting a minor in communications. I was born in Charlotte, North Carolina in April of 2023 and grew up an hour north of Charlotte in the Lake Norman area. Growing up, I loved playing baseball for various club teams and my middle/high school. In my junior year, I also started playing golf for my high school and I’ve continued doing so for the UNC club team.

Growing up, my dad was a huge influence on my life. He introduced me to both baseball and golf, which I mentioned I grew up playing religiously. He also morphed me into a Philadelphia Phillies fan, which is exciting considering they’re currently battling the Arizona Diamondbacks for a chance to play in the World Series. Like Tucker, who I interviewed, my father is an extremely hard worker, and came from a family that didn’t have anything. Because of his family’s shortcomings growing up, he gave me an unforgettable childhood filled with wonderful memories.

I grew up a Wake Forest fan, so coming to UNC was kind of a shock for my family. The atmosphere around the university mixed with a good media journalism school made the decision a no-brainer for me. Funny enough, I grew up around a ton of UNC fans. My mom as well as our best family friend went to school here and tried their hardest to morph me into a UNC fan.
