Marc ter Horst

Dr. Marc ter Horst directs the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Core Laboratory, part of the Chemical Research Instrumentation Training and Core Laboratories (CRITCL) group in the Department of Chemistry. Marc joined the Department of Chemistry in October 2000 and continues to strive to create an environment where students, post-docs, faculty and scientists can fully utilize magnetic resonance in research and development.

Andrew received degrees in Chemistry with a Biochemistry concentration and Latin from Wake Forest University in 2015, where he worked under Professor Amanda Jones. He spent a summer studying archaeology in Portugal and a semester learning Austrian culture in Vienna. Andrew enjoys traveling with family, reading, and video games in his free time.
Ling Xu

Ling obtained her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from NEU working with George O’Doherty. Her organic chemistry background and experience of working in industries and research labs prepared her well to focus on NMR spectroscopy, and she looks forward to learning more about NMR spectrometers. In her spare time, Ling enjoys cooking and cuddling with her cat!
Jobel Barcoma

Jobel is a senior majoring in Chemistry and minoring in Environmental Science and Studies. She has earned her associate degrees before transferring to UNC and has worked at the Energy Frontier Research Center (EFRC) and The Water Institute at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. Now, she is back at the Chemistry Department and hopes to gain more experiences and make meaningful connections working at the NMR Core. Jobel loves dogs and enjoys beach trips. During rare times when she has leisure time or doing productive procrastination, she enjoys gardening, crafts, and sleeping.
