Welcome to the BRIDGES Lab at UNC!

We are currently recruiting doctoral students to join in Fall 2024.

The BRIDGES lab was founded to address the needs of our increasingly multicultural world defined by cultural diversity within schools, institutions, communities, and countries. Indeed, the United States is more ethnoracially diverse than ever, and similar growth has emerged worldwide. These changing demographics have important societal and individual implications for youth development and adjustment.

We are a community of scholars committed to elucidating “cultural bridges” that can support positive development in multicultural environments and systems. Specifically, we draw on socio-cultural ecological approaches and use diverse methods to examine how immigrant and ethnoracial minoritized youth adapt to exposure to multiple cultural affordances and demands.
