Research poster at 2024 SASGOG Annual Meeting

Team members attended the 2024 SASGOG and ACOG annual meetings in San Francisco, CA. Suzanna Larkin, MPH presented a poster at the SASGOG meeting on how the 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision, which overturned the federal protection of the right to abortion, shaped postpartum patients’ permanent contraception decision-making.

Brooke Bullington, PhD candidate in the Department of Epidemiology at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, presented at the 2024 Population Association of America (PAA) Annual Meeting in Columbus, OH. Her presentation was titled, “Uncertainty in Postpartum Permanent Contraception Decision-Making: Physician and Postpartum Patient Perspectives.”

Dr. Arora attends DHHS roundtable on contraception research post-Dobbs

Dr. Arora traveled to Washington, D.C., to discuss our research on permanent contraception at the HHS roundtable on contraception research post-Dobbs with DHHS Secretary Becerra, Director Klein (White House Gender Policy Council), Deputy Director Cernich (NICHD), Associate Director Barnum (National Center for Health Statistics), along with leaders at the CDC, OPA, and OIEA.


Team presents at Society of Family Planning

Several team members attended and presented at the Society of Family Planning Annual Meeting in Seattle, WA in October 2023. Sumaiya Mubarack, OB-GYN PGY-1 resident, gave an oral presentation on our qualitative work on vasectomy and won the Outstanding Researcher in Training award. Ambika Viswanathan, MD candidate, presented a poster titled, ‘Ongoing contraceptive goals for patients who do not achieve desired postpartum permanent contraception prior to hospital discharge.’
