Cole Armstrong

Cole is a first-year Chemistry student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He spent most of his life in the small town of Bennett, North Carolina before leaving home to begin his college journey in Chapel Hill. Currently, he has aspirations to go to Medical School and become a doctor. In his free time, Cole enjoys reading books and spending time with friends. See Cole’s work in this course.

Haiden Berton

Haiden Berton is a first-year undergraduate studying Biochemistry and Neuroscience. He is an aspiring neurosurgeon and currently works as a researcher in the Biomedical Research Imaging Center at the University of North Carolina’s medical school. In his free time, Haiden plays 9 instruments, listens to vinyl records, and enjoys sketching portraits. See Haiden’s work in this course.

Caroline Chen

Moved from Beijing to Peterborough and now Chapel Hill, Caroline is a freshman pursing a bachelor’s degree in Public Health and Medical Anthropology. She is involved with many sustainability and social justice related organizations on campus. In her free time, she enjoys skiing, doing CrossFit, playing hockey and field hockey, and just being outdoors in general. She aspires to be a surgeon one day. See Caroline’s work in this course.

Sriya Dhanikonda

Originally from Long Island, New York, Sriya is a first-year undergraduate student at UNC Chapel Hill. She intends to double major in Biomedical Engineering and Economics with a minor in Women and Gender Studies. In her free time, Sriya enjoys swimming, working out, reading, and spending time with her friends. Sriya eventually hopes to become a surgical oncologist and partake in cancer research. Paige Flanigon

Paige Flanigon is a first-year student at UNC-Chapel Hill studying biology from Wake Forest, North Carolina. She hopes to pursue a career in conservation biology. In her free time, she enjoys reading, lifting weights, playing piano, and being with friends and family. See Paige’s work in this course.

Justin Forbes

Justin Forbes, from North Wales, PA is a freshman biomedical engineering major. He is a part of the Blue Entrepreneurship RLP, and is planning on participating in research on campus as part of the Accelerated Research Learning Program. For fun he enjoys reading, playing card games, watching anime, and running. See Justin’s work in this course.

Theo Garner

From the sandy beaches of Wilmington, NC, Theo is a first-year student at UNC-CH hoping to double major in Biology and Anthropology. He plays piccolo for the UNC Marching Tar Heels and enjoys reading, writing, and true crime podcasts. He plans to go to medical school after his time at UNC in hopes of then pursuing a career in forensic pathology. See Theo’s work in this course.

Danielle Hayes

Danielle is a sophomore transfer student studying neuroscience from Monmouth County, New Jersey. She resides on-campus in Morrison Residence Hall. During the school year, Danielle is an active member of her sorority. She also enjoys to workout at the SRC and get coffee with friends in her free time. See Danielle’s work in this course.

Daisy Huang

When she is not huddled in bed with her current knitting project, Daisy spends her time reading, playing frisbee, and walking around campus with a Polaroid camera in hand. She likes watching sports more than doing them, and her current interest is in football (“Go Packers!”). The college freshman plans to major in Chemistry and daydreams of retiring early with a vegetable garden and two dogs. See Daisy’s work in this course.

Ariana Jenkins

Ariana is a first-year student at UNC-Chapel Hill from Jamesville, NC. She is studying Neuroscience and has done research on the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD Study). In her free time, she enjoys being a graphic designer and social media content creator for startup companies. In the near future, she has hopes of becoming a neurologist. Sartaj Jhooty

Sartaj is a first year undergraduate student at UNC studying Neuroscience. He is from Portland, Oregon, a city known for its nature and biking, the latter of which is a summertime passion of his. Some other hobbies of his include working out, volunteering, and traveling. As for career goals, Sartaj aspires to become a physician-scientist so he can work directly with patients in need of medical care, and also conduct research on neurological illnesses. Originally from Charlotte, NC, Bruno is a first-year undergraduate student studying Biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, lifting weights, playing video games, and wrestling. He hopes to eventually attend medical school and become a physician. Shruti Madhav

Carson St Denis

From Portland, Oregon, Carson is a sophomore transfer student majoring in Neuroscience. He is an active member of Red Cross Club and is starting this semester as a research assistant in the Carolina Affective Science Laboratory. In his free time, he enjoys running, biking, playing basketball, and volunteering at the UNC hospital. He eventually hopes to work as a pediatrician or neuroscience researcher. Alyssa Wilson

Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Alyssa is a first-year student studying music and biology on the pre-dental track. She is a member of the Southeast Asian Student Association and teaches for Musical Empowerment. She spends her free time playing the flute, working at Port City Java, and is also a Marching Tar Heel.
