APPLES Reflection 1

Our team is dedicating this semester to refining and enhancing FanzPlay, an innovative mobile application founded by former UNC Women’s basketball player Taylor Walls that is designed to revolutionize fan engagement during live sporting events. This platform’s goal is to allow fans to immerse themselves in the action by participating in live trivia matches during the game, turning every game into a more dynamic and interactive experience, regardless of their location.

Our goal is to build upon the groundwork laid by previous semesters’ groups and enhance or rework the frontend for the existing FanzPlay framework to ensure a more intuitive and user-friendly interface, facilitating a seamless experience for both players and administrators. This involves improving the app’s usability to allow for effortless navigation through the functionalities of registration to live competition, and from game results to claiming rewards, making it accessible and enjoyable for a diverse fan base. By doing so, we hope to solidify the app’s appeal to potential clients and sponsors, demonstrating its value in engaging and connecting fans with their favorite sports and in real-time.

This semester’s development process has not only provided us with valuable practical experience but has also allowed us to contribute meaningfully to the community by enhancing the collective sports viewing experience. By the end of this semester, we hope to present an improved version of FanzPlay that reflects our technical skills while helping to create a deeper connection among sports enthusiasts. This project embodies the concept of service learning by merging academic objectives with community service, emphasizing the positive impact technology can have on enhancing community engagement and enjoyment.
