Reflection 1

The purpose of the creation of this survey portal is for the help of the facilitation of UNC Department of Psychiatry’s employee data. Although this is not a major facet of how the department will be operated in its day-to-day operations, it can prove to be an integral part of its database management system in the future to come. By having easy-to-access data at the access of the department, we are able to greatly reduce the times at which this information will be readily available, as well as get rid of any existing paper documentation for each employee, helping the conversion from paper to digital, and reducing the department’s carbon footprint altogether. The organization of the database will also avoid the loss of employee data in a paper file system, and maintain access to the data as simple and near instantaneous as can be. By the end of the completion of the project, the goal is to have the data entered by employees to be extracted and represented through a graphical format, so that is easier to process and analyze en masse, and make quantifiable observations of the department over a period of time. This will conducive to the workflow of the people who are employed at the UNC Department of Psychiatry, and in the future, could possibly be adopted by adjunct departments, imparting organization and efficiency to the current working systems as well.
