Laine Cammack

  • Why STFS?: I chose STFS because it is a unique opportunity to work with a small group of peers in place-based education and work towards achieving sustainability in the Chapel Hill community!

  • Why STFS?: The STFS program offered a unique experience, unlike any I have ever had in my undergraduate career. I have really enjoyed getting to work on various projects and applying the knowledge I have obtained throughout my educational career.

  • Why STFS?: I chose this field site because it draws on the disciplines of both Planning and Environmental Science. I am interested in a career in applied science that uses data evaluation and to advance urban environmental protection and this program is the perfect opportunity to see that in practice.

  • Why STFS?: I chose the STFS capstone because I appreciated the opportunity to study issues that affect our local student community. As a cohort we were able to identify a challenge facing our campus (heat stress), and devise a plan to study the impacts across campus.

Julia Swanner

  • Why STFS?: I am interested in sustainability and resilience in urban spaces and I wanted to learn more about that through our capstone research project. I have loved the small-group aspect of the field site, as well as getting to conduct our own research project from start to finish.

Antonia Sebastian

Dr. Sebastian is the Director of the Sustainable Triangle Field Site. She is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth, Marine and Environmental Sciences and the Environment, Ecology and Energy Program (E3P).
