Dear Haters,

This letter is for you. For the people who see my efforts and hear the cries of millions of other individuals, yet stand by on the sidelines finding the faults in our stars, I mean, struggles.

Some of you are people who we’ve never met, crafting tweets directing disdain towards our online aliases and ‘@’s,’ from millions of miles away.

Droning voices of disapproval also come from the same people who told us how to use our own, and stand up for the things we believe in when working in the field of social justice.

As a person who “hates,” you see the work of individuals like myself, a person who takes no issue to using my voice for others who don’t have the opportunity, as a problem.

But you find no fault with a government that has allowed for systemic oppression of millions. For centuries.

As a hater, you feel that your voice in my life should matter more than my feeling of self- efficacy in society because my actions distort your idea of comfort.

You say that you agree there is an issue in the system. You say there needs to be change.

You say a lot.

But you ain’t done nothing.

Nothing but a whole bunch of hating.

You’ve chosen to side with the oppressor instead of the oppressed, and for what?

Continuing to follow the flow, while cowering at the thought of ever being a catalyst in the same fashion that I’ve been,

You assimilate into divisive factions of those who exists, and not beings who deserve rights

You have accepted the ways of this world instead of working towards an equal and free society, that was beginning to feel like something out of a fever dream.

May I ask why you choose to hate?

Is it because you are scared to admit that there is a problem that needs to be addressed and by addressing this you may lose some social ranking?

Or is the fear of having to put in the work and confront this oppressive country enough to deflect your accusatory fingers from the oppressor to the oppressed?

Why are you so comfortable in your bubble that you feel it can’t be burst next?

Why can’t you simply care about me?

Because that is what your hate trickles down to, friend.

You cannot care about anyone other than yourself long enough to look from the other side.

The right side of justice.

Dear haters,

Fuck you. Respectfully.
