Hi y’all!
Let me preface this statement by first apologizing unreservedly for me never knowing how to introduce myself. I can be more interesting in person or one on one, so please reach out to me if you are curious about me or my work. I will share bits and pieces that come to my mind right now.
Research
I consider myself lucky in that I actually like my work. I like doing research—it is a way for me to stay engaged with the world outside of me and make myself useful. My dissertation research explores the role of working memory in search and sensemaking. Although my dissertation topic is concerned with cognitive aspects of user experience, I am equally interested in other aspects (eg, social, affective) of human experience in the context of human-computer interaction (don’t ask me to define what human-computer interaction is. It is a jumble of all kinds of things at this point).
I study how people interact with information (system) in various contexts including health information seeking, procedural knowledge seeking, information seeking through conversational agents, and so on. I leverage both quantitative and qualitative methods to investigate topics of interest. I was born in humanities and arts then trained in classic fields of social science, namely psychology, so I myself is a mix of things. I find it fitting that I ended up in HCI. Okay, that is it.
Personal stuff
What I like and am doing: Listening to music and podcast (recently, I’ve been religiously listening to Huberman), watching movies, going on road trips, mountain climbing, working out (my therapy), and last but not least, I like living as an omnivore, coffee and beer drinker.
What I really like but not doing enough: Reading literary fiction (some of my favorite authors include Albert Camus, Mishima Yukio, Dostoevsky, George Orwell, Virginia Woolf. Yup, I’m a classic B), reading poetry, and yoga.
