In 2024, students from the American University of Madaba (AUM), the Sijal Institute and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill participated in a two-way exchange. They bridged cultural, linguistic and geographical divides through digital storytelling.

Carolina students traveled to Jordan in the summer, and Jordanian students traveled to North Carolina in the fall.

In Jordan, students explored the role of women in society. In North Carolina, the focus shifted to the experience of women in the American South, where students examined how women have used creative expression to advocate for gender justice.

As part of the photovoice project, students captured photographs that depict the experiences of women in both Jordan and the U.S. Some of these images can be viewed in the gallery on this site.
