High School Journalism

During high school, I served as the Editor in Chief of my school newspaper, The Newsstreak, TAJ yearbook and website

When I was a freshman, I had no grasp on the effect journalism would have on my life. I signed up for what I thought would be “just another elective course,” but journalism has grown into my passion.

During my four years on staff, I not only developed my writing ability but also became a skilled leader through my relationship with younger students as their mentor. I learned what it truly meant to lead a group of young staff members and I embraced my role as an EIC.

One of my biggest accomplishments as a high school journalist was being honored third place in the Virginia Journalist of the Year competition. My portfolio, showcases a variety of my high school work from writing, editing, design, leadership, photography and team building.
