My research explores how texts, images, and sounds crossed the national and ideological boundaries separating Cold War-era North Korea, South Korea, and Japan. I also have a developing interest in the literary and cultural links between the Koreas and Vietnam.

My first book, Triangle Republics: Cross-border Literary Transits in the Cold War Koreas and Japan (Columbia University Press), is a connected history of postcolonial Korean literature and thought narrated from a multilingual, regional perspective.

My next book will focus on cross-border radio broadcasts and radio broadcast technologies in early-Cold War East Asia.
