My name is Kaitlyn Cano, and I am a current junior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am studying English and Comparative Literature with a concentration in Writing, Editing, and Digital Publishing. I am also majoring in Media and Journalism with a concentration in Advertising and Public Relations. I am involved in several on-campus clubs and organizations as an editor, including The Daily Tar Heel, The Journal of Foreign Affairs at Carolina, and the Undergraduate Law Journal at Carolina. I am also the founder of a book club here at UNC where I meet with others biweekly to discuss books and book-related topics, as well as curate lists for future meetings. Overall, I am super involved in all things reading and writing, which are passions of mine!
I love spending time with my family, especially traveling to New York! My family is originally from New York, so I travel there in the summertime to visit my relatives who still live there. Hanging out with my friends is also something I love to do. We usually all enjoy visiting bookstores and coffee shops. When I’m not spending time with them, I love reading and writing, especially fantasy and romance books. Currently, I am taking a creative writing course where I am furthering this passion and learning the ins and outs of how to write fiction, as well as edit other manuscripts.
My pets are a large part of my life! I have two cats, one named Monty and the other named Ellie who we have raised since they were kittens. I also have a rottweiler named Beau (whose full name is Beauregard), who is a big baby. When I’m home from school, I spend as much time as I can with them! Out of all of my siblings and parents, my cat Monty definitely prefers to be with me over them!
