As a part of my studies at the University of North Dakota for the Certificate in Instructional Design & Technology, I planned, created, and tested an online, asynchronous course: Learn to do a yoga handstand at home.
The instructional content includes demonstration videos, written guidance, and links to external resources. Along the way, students are assigned independent practice of each pose, provided a self-evaluation rubric, and asked to submit their assessment of their own pose. For the final two assessments, students record their own poses, submit the videos, and receive personalized feedback from the instructor.
I created the course simply, with no budget, using myself to demonstrate, and Google Classroom as a platform. This course represents the prototype stage of design thinking. A superior version of this course would use a studio and quality camera to film, a paid yoga teacher to lead, and a robust Learning Management System.
