About Grace

Born and raised in the Southeastern United States, Grace has focused on building communities and solving problems within education, technology, and business. In her free time, she enjoys hiking the great outdoors with her dog, playing board games, and cooking.

EDUCATION

In 2023, she completed her Master’s degree in Educational Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a focus on leveraging Educational Technology to improve Instructional Design for adult learners based on educational psychology and educational technology principles.

Previously, Grace attended the University of Florida studying education for both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. There she worked at the Development and Research School, P.K. Yonge, both studying and researching how to most effectively design and implement instruction.

CAREER

Teaching for 4 years prior to and moving into business, Grace has spent 5 years studying populations and customer bases to identify areas of need with a focus on learning and development. She is currently working as an Instructional Designer at UNC Blue Sky Innovations designing corporate education programs around Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion through the use of Virtual Reality.

Filming for immersive learning experiences

In her time at UNC Blue Sky Innovations, she used Human Centered Design principles to understand the perspectives of others and develop technological client learning solutions. There she designed immersive learning experiences and authored a chapter for a practitioner’s handbook titled How Simulating Difficult Conversations in Virtual Reality Around Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Benefits Interpersonal Skills Training.

Grace’s presentation skills have been an asset in her various roles, in 2023 she presented her work in formal and informal settings in the United States and internationally. This included the research and methodology of creating immersive learning experiences using educational psychology, human-centered design, and the integration of educational technology learning principles in virtual reality.
