Working in Virtual Reality (VR) has been an exciting process, working with subject matter experts in organizational management has allowed us to craft experiences to teach Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) content.
My team and I just finished filming our first immersive experience for this project. Creating content in VR can be complicated, as you need the user to feel present in the experience, while also following the storyline. For this project, we chose to have our VR player seated facing actors playing out a scene. The filming required special cameras, sound equipment, and lighting to allow the viewer to see and hear our actors as if they were really there. This way when a user turns their head left, the user hears sounds coming from the left side of the scene louder.
As for visuals, we’ve noticed that users tend to notice things irregularities in VR more so than with videos. We were able to use props that would be reasonable to see in our environment to hide our equipment. You’ll even notice in the image below that the VR user could look down to see their own belongings they might bring to a meeting.
Another consideration was the actors’ wardrobes and accessories supported their characters and our storyline. Filming with Seeboundless was such an amazing experience, stay tuned for more updates!
