Comparing Videos

My favorite video out of all four was “the quirky/awkward black girl” video. This one interested me the most I think because it began with a clip of the creator, amandamaryanna, which makes it personal and engaging which is a feature that the other videos lacked. Her facial expressions and the way she spoke made it feel like she was directly speaking to the viewer which was interesting and attention grabbing. She also acknowledged that she isn’t an expert on anything that she’s discussing she is simply using her resources. She dives right into the topic by showing clips from different movies/tv shows and clearly discusses the different sections of her video. The “Little Women vs. All The Other Little Women” video starts with an attention grabbing collage of videos from different movies with the “Little Women” theme and shows how painstakingly similar they all are. The video is full of movie and tv show clips which back up the points being made even more. The “Frank Ocean – Musical Identity” video stitches clips from the musicians music videos and also includes clips of Frank speaking on the topic himself. This gave the video a great amount of credibility as it included the personal touch from Frank’s experience in the video. Lastly, “The Most Disturbing Painting” video begins with a clip of the image with a spotlight over it illuminating the disturbing aspects of the image. The video carries a theme of horror throughout to make the viewer feel disturbed and to really set the tone. The video includes other pieces from the artist of centerpiece used in the discussion and also discusses the artists childhood and how he hid the paintings away in his house. I think the videos were all good choices because they all achieved great things in different ways. They are unique in the fact that they’re focused on different topics/genres and their videos fit with the topics. I think the videos are made good because the creators knew what to do to invoke the emotions and realizations that they were attempting to invoke and they did that well.
