Video Essays in Classrooms: Maggie Caudle

I personally would like to see the video essay replace the traditional essay in classrooms. It has been a really cool experience and I feel it often requires much more research and creativity, enabling the student to learn more about the topic. I feel like a potential issue with this would be many professors/teachers not seeing this as legitimate academic work. While I personally think it is legitimate, it would require quite a bit of open-mindedness that many schools do not have. A lot of teachers who are not used to this format may see it as an easy way out, but I’m not sure something being more fun necessarily makes it easier. I think the video essay is more fun and rewarding, but also helps me learn better personally and could do the same for many students.
