Parody and Satire: Ruchi Patel

Finding a parody or satirical version of my cultural artifact was quite easy to do as the “women yelling at cat meme” is quite popular and meme’s, especially ones on twitter are constantly being cycled and used in many different ways. The original meme is just the side by side of the two images however, since then people have added their own comedic texts and even changed out either or of the two pictures. The one that I found was used in a comedic satirical way to reference something entirely different than what the original could have intended. This satirical version is simply used as a means of humility and lighthearted jokes and not in a way to parade the original into a “new” or “better” version. I think that also comes hand in hand with meme culture because images and text are constantly being cycled into what is considered funny and relatable! In this case I would say that it is pretty successufl in using the original in its own way to be relevant and funny for them.
