Song Sample: Jorell Jimenez

The song I chose for this assignment is “Jocelyn Flores” by XXXTENTACION which sampled from “I’m Closing My Eyes” by Potsu. I have heard this song before but I was not aware that it sampled from a different song. However having Potsu’s song in the background throughout the entirety of the song adds to the emotion that X put into this song. The few lyrics the Potsu song has is a representation of X’s emotions that he felt when his friend had passed away from suicide, her name being the title of this song. It added and amplified the meaning of the song, which gives it this serene yet saddened tone for the song.
