Song Sample: Noah Burnette

The song I chose for this assignment is J. Cole’s “Work Out”, which uses a sample of Kanye’s song “The New Workout Plan”. I recently found this out on Tik Tok and I thought it was genius how J. Cole used a sample with work out in the title and made it into his own song. Given Kanye’s status in the music industry, using a sample of his song would catch a lot of people’s attention and I think that is what J. Cole was looking for. Between the similarity in titles and the popularity of Kanye, J. Cole knew this song would become catchy and it sure did.
