Lessig Introduction – Tala Farah

After reading the introduction, Lessig certainly shows the flaws in our current copyright laws. In my opinion, the laws are too strict, especially in the case of Stephanie Lenz simply sharing a poor-quality video of her son dancing to a Prince song. In no way did Lenz suggest she created the song; she simply wanted to show her son’s dance moves to her family. It’s a bit ridiculous to have fined Lenz for doing this while people do this through text messages or other external applications all the time, but not a word is said. Current copyright laws are set to protect the work of the original artist; however, this comes at the cost of creativity of others.
