I concur that video essays will never replace traditional essays. Video essays are bound to have technical/audio/presentation issues, and I believe that professors simply will not bother implementing them. Likewise, it is easier to make notes on traditional essays; something most professors do. However, I could see them occasionally being used in certain classes. Perhaps a video essay will be easier to portray certain feelings for a specific project. Perhaps a video essay will be used to accurately test public speaking abilities. It is definitely legitimate academic work since video essays utilize the same amount of research and knowledge. However, the challenges that may accompany them will restrict them from replacing traditional essays.
